CPC's International department minister meets Congress party delegation

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Minister for Transportation and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, leading a delegation from the National Congress Party, met with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the Department of International Liaison of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The delegation from the Congress Party included key figures such as the party's Secretary-General Zeenaz Adnan, members of parliament, and officials from various ranks within the party.

Liu Jianchao highlighted the 10th anniversary of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to the Maldives, emphasizing the long-standing friendship between the two nations. He reiterated China’s commitment to enhancing relations further, stating, "China is ready to strengthen political dialogue, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly promote the development and prosperity of the region, as well as that of the Global South." Liu also expressed the CPC’s willingness to collaborate closely with Maldivian political parties, including the National Congress Party, through the exchange of experiences in governance and party leadership.

Minister Ameen, in his remarks, emphasized the historical significance of the Maldives-China relationship. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s support in the Maldives' socio-economic development and voiced the Maldives’ readiness to continue fostering cooperation in critical areas such as transportation, development, and finance. He also stressed the importance of collaboration in trade and tourism, key sectors for the Maldives' growth and prosperity.
